busting blogging myths

Myth: Blogging is for people who can write.

Fact: This is probably the number one myth, and the biggest reason more businesses don’t add blogging to their marketing strategy. “I really have crappy writing skills – I’m not going to blog and embarrass myself.”  If you really stink at writing, you can still blog. You just need a little help from one of our virtual assistants.

Maybe you have a great gift for creating engaging content and only need someone to check your spelling and punctuation errors. If that’s not enough, you may need to speak into your phone and have your blog post transcribed for you. That’s cool too. Don’t want to be bothered? We can write the whole darn thing, post it to your website, and share it with your social media followers. Whether you need a little or a lot of help, we’ve got you covered.

Myth: Blogging is for parents to share pictures of their special snowflakes with their families.

Fact: Blogging for business should not be confused with family blogging. Sure, you can add a pic here and there – blogging is about adding personality to your business. However, as much as you don’t want to share your son’s potty training journey, your business audience doesn’t want to hear about it. Unless you’re selling potty seats.

Myth: Blogging is for people who have extra time.

Fact: You know who has time for blogging? Helllooooooo!  Virtual assistants on my team. Give me a call and I’ll send some time in your direction.

Myth: Blogging is a hobby.

Fact: Blogging is not a hobby. It’s a marketing and networking strategy.  Blogs are a great way to engage your website visitors, helping to build the know/like/trust factor.  However, to get results, you have to be consistent and persistent.  It’s not something you can do today and then not again for a year. The more blog posts you have out there, the better your chances of them bringing in new customers.

Myth: Blogging is a huge process that will require a $4K website reconfiguration.

Fact: Chances are that if you have a WordPress website, you already have the capability to add a blog to your theme and your site won’t need to be reworked. We can help you with that, too. Shoot me an email and we’ll take a look.

Myth: Blogging is for freelance industries. No one else can benefit from it.

Fact: I’m not a freelancer. You’re reading my blog. I’ll just leave that there for you to think about for a minute.

Need help blogging or just someone to give you a kick in the pants to get going? We can do both.

Until next time,

Angie
