virtual assistance

It’s not personal, it’s business. How many times have you heard or said that in the course of your lifetime?

Guess what? That old adage is pretty much wrong for most small businesses.  Unless you’re a Fortune 500 company, you really can’t afford to think that way.  In the small business world it’s simple: make a personal connection with people or they will take their business elsewhere.

Disclaimer:  Keep in mind that there is personal, and then there is too personal. No one cares what you had for breakfast (unless it involves bacon and you plan on sharing), but giving your customers and clients a little bit of insight to your personality will always take your business farther than being stiff and stuffy. Use discretion as to how personal you can be before you become inappropriate.

Think about your own purchases for a minute: Would you rather buy your veggies from the farm stand owned by your son’s soccer coach? Do you prefer to buy your gas from the mom and pop station down the road where you’re always greeted with a smile by the cashier? That’s because it’s personal. When you go to your small town coffee shop and they know you need extra sugar packets it makes you want to come back. You know your business means something to them. No one wants to be just another dollar in someone’s pocket. We all want to be important. That’s also why marketers focus on your emotions.

Your team should make your business personal, too. They should care about your success as much as you do. Whether you’re hiring a virtual assistant or someone to stock the shelves and run the cash register in your store, choosing a person who is just as passionate about your business as you are is very important.  You guessed correctly – this is where my team of virtual assistants comes into play!
